A 29er can be available in several frame sizes. Wheel diameter describes the wheel system; S, M or L describes a frame category. When comparing listings, write down both. If an advert only says “29”, you still need the frame size, model and geometry to assess fit.
Reach, clearance and dropper posts
Reach helps compare the frame’s space when riding out of the saddle. Also check standover clearance over the top tube. A dropper post needs compatible travel, insertion depth and saddle height. Choosing one by travel alone can leave the saddle too high even when the post is fully lowered.
Test it for your riding
XC and enduro models can have very different geometry under the same size label. Check access to the brakes, handlebar control and freedom to shift your body. Do not automatically size up for stability or down for agility; compare the actual dimensions and your position.
